Preschool Intervention Program

The Brantley County School System’s Preschool Intervention Program  provides evaluation and intervention services for children ages 3-5 years.  Children suspected of having developmental delays may be referred by parents, local agencies, childcare providers, and health care providers.

Children are evaluated in five areas of development in order to determine if delays are present:

PHYSICAL/MOTOR DEVELOPMENT: How a child’s body is developing and muscles are working.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT: How a child thinks, using what he/she sees, hears, tastes, smells, and touches.

COMMUNICATION DEVELOPMENT: How a child understands and uses language.

SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT: How a child relates to people and his/her surroundings.

ADAPTIVE DEVELOPMENT: How a child completes self-help tasks (feeding,
dressing, etc.)

To access services, a parent or other referring party must complete a Request for Consultation and provide a current (within one year) vision and hearing screening, proof of residence, immunization certificate, and birth certificate.

Please contact Melissa Courson, PIP Teacher, at (912) 462-5470 for information on
referring a child for evaluation. Contact Mrs. Roxie Tumlin, Special Education
Director, at (912) 462-6612, for information on services.
